Weekend Roundup: Employee Monitoring, Talent Management, EEOC Online Filing

In today’s Weekend Roundup, how intrusive is employee monitoring? The pandemic has changed the way we manage talent and fast-tracked the digital landscape for how people work. Are you following the new rules? In other headlines, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) plans to accept digital filings. Click the headlines below to learn more.

Can Employee Monitoring Be Done Ethically?

If you talked to business owners, managers and employees last year, most of them would probably tell you that employee monitoring software seems excessive and intrusive. But now that COVID-19 made us rethink work-from-home policies, this industry is booming.

Many managers have realized that their employees can in fact work remotely and still complete their tasks. However, most of these companies do not have experience with remote work. What does a company do to ensure that productivity is high while tracking the attendance of their workers on a daily basis?

The Post-Pandemic Rules of Talent Management

Over the past decades, rapid digital transformation has enabled organizations to completely reimagine the way they work and manage talent. From reliable video conferencing platforms, to digital collaboration software, to ubiquitous cloud-based connectivity, and a data-centric approach to strategic decision-making powered by the synergy between artificial and human intelligence, an imaginary worker from the 1950s would surely marvel at the current landscape of work as if they were in a Black Mirror episode.

EEOC Issues Final Rule for Online Filing in Discrimination Cases

The EEOC plans to accept electronic documents for discrimination charges and promote digital communications between the agency and private employers, according to a final rule that was published in The Federal Register on October 15. The EEOC enforces federal laws that prohibit employment discrimination, including the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
